Coming Home!!!!

Hey prayers,

Well my time here has quickly come to an end... I have had a lot of fun here in Lima... While we have been waiting for our flights we have spent a lot of time seeing the city.... I have been able to see a few movies and hang out with all the other summer missionaries... It has been very good to hear all about what God did this summer in all the other villages... I went to the airport to see my teammates off last night... Me and a few other guys decided to live life on the edge and see if we could take a combi all the way back to hostel... We got pretty close, but we wound up taking a taxi toward the end... This was pretty exciting...

I will be traveling tomorrow all through the night and I will arrive in Houston at about 6 30 AM, then I will be in Nashville by 11 00... Please just pray that all goes well with the flight... All went well with recovering my migration papers... It took all day get them but I got them... Praise the Lord for that...

Lima

Hey Prayers,

We have been in Lima for a couple of days now... We have been able to eat at McDonalds, TGIFriday´s, and Papa John´s... We stayed in a really nice hotel last night... Today we got up and went to church with Mike and Kathy Weaver... The Church service was great... It was all in spanish and there praise and worship was awesome... The preacher spoke very clear and I could pretty much understand everything... After this we ate at a very nice peruvian restaurant and then we returned back to the mission house... Some more of the guys arrived today so we went ahead and got some rooms at a hostal called Mochilleros... It is not very expensive and the people there are very nice... Right now we have have 4 guys in our room... It is kind of like camp or something... Bunk beds... Community showers...

San Clemente - Otra Vez

Hey Prayers,

Well, everything is going really good... We left Huayacundo Arma today with all the professors... One of them has a taxi and he regularly travels through San Clemente... There were 9 people crammed in this station wagon... Fortunately, our friend, Lucho caught a ride with us... He lives in Pisco so he got off with us in San Clemente and helped us with our bags... We took him out to eat at the place we have eaten at like 4 times... The woman kisses us every time we come... Tomorrow Lucho will be 25 years old... He also helped gave us good advice for travelling... We are probably going to catch a taxi tomorrow to the bus station and then find a bus to Lima... Hopefully we can leave early tomorrow morning and be in Lima by about noon or so... Pray for us as we are travelling...

We were able to leave Huayacundo Arma very content.... We were very active in the schools and our bible studies went really well... We left many bibles and new testaments with the people... Sally and Audra had brought a purpose driven life devotion book to give to someone... There was no doubt in all of our minds that we were going to give this to Doris... I was able to talk with her a lot about studying the bible... She was worried about us leaving because she said she wouldn’t know how to go about studying the bible... We were able to leave her with this book and other devotional material for her to study.... This woman was sooo passionate and caring... She really puts others first and wants to show Christ´s love to others....

It was kind of hard to leave.... One kid jumped onto the side of the taxi and rode with us on the outside of the vehicle for about 50 yards while we were travelling pretty fast... I gave one kid named Jose a bunch of my clothes... The whole time we were there he wore the same clothes everyday.... This morning we passed out a bunch of bibles and tracks to whoever we could find... That went really well...

Thank you all for your prayers... I really appreciate you all and I am looking forward to seeing you all again... Please pray that as we travel and are in Lima we would be obedient to share and do what God would have us to do.... While we are in Lima I will be going to get my traveller’s stamp on my new passport... Pray that this goes well... Also pray for other missionaries here... there are about 40 something others travelling to lima as well...

Hey Prayers,

Yesterday...I ate some funky food... and hiked 2 hours up the side of a mountain to go to a party in Carmen Alto... I felt like i was going to puke but i made it..... I bought a couple of those David and Goliath sling shots too... and i got someone to show me ho to use it... This was you average pervian party... They had a band... They kids marched... There was a lot of food...ETC... Fortunatly it only takes about an hour to come down the mountain... I would up coming back with about 20 kids... That was exciting... I took a lot of really cool pics but i wont be able to put them on photobucket until we get to lima probably...

Every thing is going good we are really busy working in the schools... Thank you all for you prayers...

¡Huayacundo Arma!

Hey Prayers...

Well everything is going good... We are in the schools a lot... So far we have been able to teach a bible story in a class and we have been teaching a few english classes... Basically we have been teaching the students body parts... Today the teacher had a lesson he wanted translated in to English... This was a little hard but as a team we were able to teach it... Things have gone really good with the Bible studies... An engineer named Lucho has come twice and last night he brought another worker, Jose, and the town secretary, Claudia... Tomorrow we are going to have another bible study at 5:00 PM... Pray that this would go good and that the same and more people would come.... Pray that God would do a work in all of there hearts...

In this village I have made very good friend with Lucho.... He is a Christian and is very excited about the bible studies we are doing... Unfortunatly he is only going to be here temporarily... He is an egineer and he is here to build the Catholic Church... He is a very good influence to his work crew... However we are trying to look harder for someone who can lead a bible study... There is a man named Carlos, I have talked to and he seemed very interested in us doing the bible study.... We invited him, last week, to come to the bible study last night but he didnt show up... Hope fully we will get to talk with him again... Please pray for a man of peace?

Let me correct some dates... We will be leaving form here on july 21st and going to San Clemente... On the 22nd we will leave San Clemente by bus to Lima... We will definitly (God willing) be in Lima by the night of the 22nd... Thanks for your cooperation... I am not a very organized person....

I miss you all and I am looking forward to seeing all of you...

Back to the Mountains - GRINGO style

Hey Prayers,

Well we are back in Huaytara now... We will be here for the night and tommorrow morning we will catch a Combi into Huacundo Arma... I think it will be leaving here at about 4:00 AM... When we arrived here we recieved a note from Geyer Springs Baptist Church saying that we did have lights... We can use the neighbor´s baño and that they paid for us a night in Huaytara... Everything went well with the traveling on the bus... We have learned though that there is no such thing as a direct ride to anywhere... And that your paid for in advance tickets are only good until the next stop...

Last night we stayed in a Hostal in San Clemente... I accompanied another team to the bus stop at about 1:00 AM... As we were waiting for the bus to arrive... An extremely drunk man attempted to cross over a concrete wall separating the street and the sidewalk... He fell on his back and just mumbled at us... We (Roni, Joe, Amanda, and I) helped him up, bought him a package of bread, and told him that Jesus loves him... Later he stumbled off... continuing his way down the rode.... As he was walking off we prayed that God would protect him and reveal Himself to him...

The letter that we got today was a huge praise... When we left for Nazca we were not sure that we would have... lights, water, baño, etc... God definatly heard our prayers... These things will make living much easier... I am understanding why these people are called "unreached"... It´s because no one wants to go to these areas... Please pray that we would deny ourselves pick up our crosses daily and follow Jesus...

Our goals once we enter this village are to start a bible study, teach bible stories to the children, find a man of peace, and establish as many relationship as we can with the locals... Please pray for these people in Huacundo... That they would be open to the Message of Christ... Pray for our team...Health, endurance, boldness with perseverance, strength, closeness to God, complete obedience to Him... I want to be crazy in love with Jesus!!!!

Traveling ETC...

Hey Prayers,

We stayed an extra night here in NAZCA... Unfortunatly we didn´t return back to Huaytara because the Geyer Springs Baptist Church group in Tambo had there trucks broken into... They are working out everything in Lima so was no need for us to rush back to Huaytara... Please lift them up... Because of this Drew and Sara will not be with us for the next week... Tommorrow we will be traveling to Huaytara so please pray for Sally, Audra, and I as we are riding on buses, combis, or taxis... Appreciate your prayers very much...

Mid-Summer Debriefage - NAZCA

Hey Prayers...

We are doing really good... We made it all the way to Nazca.... The ride here was pretty crazy... First we caught a taxi from Huaytara to San Clemente... Then we found a bus to Ica... Then from Ica we caught a taxi to Nazca... The trip only took from 8:00 AM to 2:00PM.... Some teams traveled for 2 days to get to here so we were pretty blessed that we didn´t have to do that... We have been eating some pretty good food.... We ate some Chinese last night... I had sweet and sour chicken.... It pretty much changed my life.... Thank you all sooo much for your prayers... and please remember to pray on the 30th when we will be traveling back to Huaytara to meet up with Drew and Sarah... There will also be about 15 other teams traveling this day so please remember them too...

Another prayer request that I have is for my sister... My mom wrote me telling me that she got robbed while she was in Nashville visiting a friend... Someone broke into her car through the windshield.... She lost her camera and her purse and check card... Please remember her... Laura I am sorry to hear about this and i love you...

San Clemente

Hey Prayers,

How is everyone? Well are finished working in Cusicancha... I was able to talk with Huber about starting a bible study… He was pretty hesitant and said that he really doesn´t think that he is ready... However he is very willing to study the Bible... There is a team going back to Cusicancha next week and they are going to try to talk to him more... They are prepared to disciple, teach, and equip him specifically to continue leading bible studies... Please pray that Huber will truly Grow in Christ and Hear God`s calling to teach His Word...

Well... In addition to all of our excitement we packed some bags and took a combi (most are oversized Volkswagen buses with 15 to 18 seats) to Huaytara... We had planned to find a hostel here for us and Geyer Springs Baptist Church... They have a 15 person team coming to work with the different people groups in our area... We made it to Huaytara, but all the hostels were full because they are having a fiesta that will last until Sunday... We discovered that there was no way to get rooms for 18 people so we found a ride to San Clemente... Ohhhh was this a crazy ride... The taxi/combi was a 1980 sumthin Dodge sumthin or other... It appeared to have once been an automatic but recently converted into a 4 in the floor... I also take it that it didn´t have power steering due to the difficulty the driver seemed to have while turning... Finally, we made it to San Clemente after about an hour and a half drive... We asked the driver if he knew of a good hostel and he said that he would take us right up to the best one in town... Praise the Lord he did... Last night we stayed in a very nice hostel with a shower and a bathroom.... No tin roof no dirt floor... This one was really nice...

Today we are just waiting for the team to come in... We will spend time with them tonight and tomorrow we will load up and leave for our different villages... Our team will be going to Huacundo Arma... Me and the girls will stay with the team until the 27 of June and then we will travel to Nazca to our mid-summer debriefing... We will be here until June 30, when we return back to Huaytara to meet Drew and Sarah (teenagers from Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Arkansas). They will travel with us to Huacundo Arma and serve with us for a week and they will leave on July 6... Please pray for them during this time because they will be travelling by themselves all the way to Lima...

Sally, Audra, and I are doing really good... We have really worked good together... Audra and I are the only ones that have been sick... We both got something while in Cusicanch but we are both well now... Occasionally one of us will get a little sick but this is mostly from the change in weather from 80 degrees is the day to 30 and 40 at night... Please continue to pray for health, unity, and perseverance... This summer has already been very rewarding and we are still looking forward to all that God has in store for us....

I really miss seeing all of you... Thanks for your prayers and God Bless!!!!!!

Hey Everyone!!!!

What up prayers!!!!
Well... We are not in cusicancha anymore... We tryed to relocate tonight to Huaytara but it didn` t workout that way... Aparently they are having a fiesta in Huaytara and it is HUGE... So big that there are no rooms there... When we found this out we found a taxi that was headed to San Clemente... Oh was this the ride of my life... It was a 1980 sumthin Dodge 4 door sumthin... It made me laugh... It looked like it used to be an automatic but was converted somewhere down the road to a 4 in the floor... Despite the looks of this rod it was much more spacious than any other combi/ taxi... Long story short... We are in San Clemente... We are going to stay here for the night and wait for Geyer Springs Baptist to show up... They should fly into Lima tonight and travel tommorrow... Hopefully the change of plans won`t mess them up too much... There`s not a Sonic here but there are plenty of places to eat...Praise the Lord... We just ah Rice Sumthin and it made my tongue smack my brains out... The internet is pretty "SMOKIN" here so tommorrow i might try to download some pics... Thank you all very mu ch for you prayers... I have definitly felt prayed for.... yes... i feel much better... not sick anymore at all...

Hey Prayers!!!

Hello Everyone,

Well, i really dont know where to start... Thank you all very much for praying... About a week ago i got really sick... for about 3 or 4 nights i was frequenting the bathroom about 10 to 15 times per night... A couple of those nights i had an extremely high temperature... A few days ago all this passed.... praise the Lord!!! I feel much better now... We have not been able to enter into the secondary school... the professor of religion does not seen to like us very much.... please pray for her... She invited us to come on a day that school was not in service... We talked to her the next day and she just said we would not be allowed here... One answered prayer is that i was able to have a bible study with a man named Huber... He is a really humble man and he wants to learn more about the bible and his relactionship with God... We talked for about 2 hours... He had a lot of questions.... Within the next week there will be another team coming to cusicancha and hopefully they will be able to talk to him and encourage him more about a bible study... We will be traveling this friday to Huaytara there we will meet a team from Arkasas... Sunday we will travel from huaytara to huacundo arma... then me sally and audra will go to Nazca for our midsummer debriefing... please pray for safety as we travel... Right now all of us are doing very very good... we dont want to leave the people here but we are desperatly looking forward to spending time in a bigger city.... We have been preparing breakfast and lunch on a gas operated whisperlight stove and eating dinner with Amalia.... We want to be able to by food from a restaurant... That is much much easier... And it is really cheap too... Whoever is reading this, I miss you very much... thanks for your prayers and God Bless...

Hello everyone,

Well this week has been a good one... Todd, Michelle, and Dan left.... We went to the three day fiesta... We drove up to Qiusar Pampa everynight... The first night was with the Barnabas team and then we mostly just caught a ride with whoever....There was a lot of marching and soccer playing and food... I really liked the food part and i am not sick yet... Praise the Lord!!!! I was able to share with a lot of people at the fiesta... God has been good and provided many opportunities to share our faith... Pray for a man named Huber... i am going to try to talk to him about possible leading a bible study... this is all the time i have now thank you all very much...

Hello everyone,

I want to thank you all for your prayers... The messages have been very encouraging... Todd and Michelle and Dan (the Barnabas Team) showed up in cusicancha this mourning... We ate breakfast and lunch and then they drove us to hauytara to use the internet... It has been great hearing from everyone... I really dont know where to start... we have been working on mon tue and wed in the schools teaching bible stories and a little bit of english... We are cooking our own food for breakfast and lunch... mostly macaroni and cheese and oatmeal or vise versa... lol... For dinner we eat at with the hostal owners family... It has been pretty good so far... We really havent found a schedule in anything that happens in this village... the only thing constant is that a few young parents and all the kids get together to play volleyball almost everynight... A few days ago we hiked up to quisar pampa bout 5 kms and worked in there school... It took us about 1.5 hours to walk there... We really dont know waht is in store for us the next few days... There is supposed to be a fiesta in quisar pampa for 3 days... these are the days that we had planned on going into the schools but we are thinking we might just need to go to the party and meet as many people as we can... Schedules arent really important in peru anyway... Last week schools were closed for elections sooo we are kinda guessing that they might be closed for this party too... hopefully we will be able to use the internet again soon... until then please pray for favor with the villagers and teachers in the schools... for perseverance with boldness and strength... and please pray for our health... we are boiling our water now and adding tablets...

hey everyone,
i arrived here in peru late last night and was taken to my hostal to meet the other summer missionaries... Everything has gone good.... however today i was at dunkin donuts and my bag was stolen... i had all my important documents in this bag as well as my camera, cell phone, etc... God is working everything out though... tommorrow i am going to the us embassy to apply for a new passport... please pray that all goes smoothly... i know this is pretty crazy but do not worry... i am fine... all i have to do is get my passport and i have plenty of time for that... i appreciate all of your prayers.... thanks... mom dad laura grandma and friends i love you!!!
